Our Program
Our staff will use the Maryland State approved Creative Curriculum for Preschool and Infants & Toddlers, as the primary program, with additional themes and projects. It covers four domain areas: social/emotional, cognitive, physical and language development. The Creative Curriculum program follows a developmentally appropriate continuum that can be adjusted to meet the needs and abilities of individual children. Our program is play based and experiential. Students are encouraged to explore, experiment and experience developmentally appropriate activities. We will also introduce basic Mandarin through songs and hands on activities.
Our daycare reflects an interactive approach to learning. We use various curriculum areas to develop specific concepts. For example, while learning about books and authors, the children will participate in areas of art, music, language arts, drama and science that reflect that unit of study.
For infants and toddlers, there is a primary caregiver who performs the entire one on one range of care giving routines (feeding, changing, comforting, etc.) for that child, and with whom the child forms a bond of intimacy and reassurance. We stress the importance of a single, consistent caregiver for the majority of the day. This care giver provides a written daily report for the parents.
For two year olds, there is an emphasis on beginning social skills, including activities to foster independence. We introduce hands on experiences to develop manipulative and cognitive skills within an atmosphere that is warm and nurturing.
With three year olds, we work on social interaction, self-confidence and independence. Colors, numbers, shapes and alphabets are introduced. We work on a series of social study’s units to further develop these skills and concepts.
For four and five year olds, we continue to work on social skills, emphasizing self confidence, cooperation problem solving and respect for rights and feelings of others. We also work on developing self reliance, independence and developing manners. This pre-kindergarten aged kids will work on following direction and activities to introduce sound/symbol association, numeral recognition and application, simple math problems, hands on science exploration and social studies.
